‘Fashion legend Karl Lagerfeld is presenting his first ever exhibition of sculptural works at Carpenters Workshop Gallery in Paris.’ *

Lagerfeld, creative director at Chanel says that he used ‘antiquity, Greek architecture and the golden ratio’ as inspiration for the design of this collection.

The show, which is adequately named ‘Architectures’ was flourished in collaboration with Aline Asmar d’Amman (Architect) and features tables, fountains and mirrors made out of marble. To Lagerfeld, the word antiquity refers to “the origin of beauty, culture and modernity”.

Each piece in this stunning collection is created from a meticulously selected block of marble either Arabescato Fantastico or Black Nero Marquina marble.

Arabescato Fantastico is a stimulating white marble with thin grey veins that undulate elegantly through the mass, while Black Nero Marquina features a solid black with strings of a ghostly white colour. Each as beautiful and elegant as the next.

I wanted to share this collection as I am completely fascinated with the way Lagerfeld and d’Amman have amalgamated historic Greek style architecture with modern design elements and principles to create a breathtakingly gorgeous collection of sculptures.
